11th Class - back into the education system

11th class – A guidance and skill upgrading programme for non-ethnic Danes on their way towards the regular educational system.

"My Danish has improved and I have gotten more self-confidence. Prior to my arrival at CLAVIS, I was very shy and I was unable to engage in a conversation in Danish. I did not talk to any Danes as I was afraid of ridiculing myself. Here, the teachers tell me that I have to." Former student of the 11th class that today attends a regualr education programme.

Education is the route to permanent employment in Denmark. Some non-ethnic Danes can have both professional and social challenges in relation to attending a regular education. CLAVIS offers a course programme that has been specifically tailored to non-ethnic Danes that need to upgrade their qualifications and develop their skills in order to complete a regular education.

Since 2006, 52 non-ethnic Danes have completed a shorter or longer guidance- and upgrade of qualifications programme at CLAVIS in the 11th Class. 94% of the participants have proceeded to another educational system and 4% have proceeded directly to the labour market.
An evaluation of this course programme has shown that the high success rate and the positive process of development originate from the 11th class' combination of holistic methods and skill development lead by a team of teachers that have managed to meet the young students at eye level.

Target group
The 11th Class is directed at young bilinguals arriving at a late age, young refugees and descendants of refugees aged 15-25.

The participants are characterised by the fact that they:
