At CLAVIS, we see it as an important task not only to strengthen language skills but also to give our students access to the general knowledge that is a natural part of everyday life in Denmark. That’s why we recently had a visit from “Borgerberedskabet”, who gave a presentation to our students about emergency preparedness, prevention and options for action in everyday life.
They reviewed the following questions:
- “What to do in case of fire or power failure?”
- “How do you call 1-1-2?”
- “What is the role of emergency services in society?”
Based on these questions, the course focused on specific situations and general knowledge that many Danes already acquire in primary school.
“We don’t want our students to first hear about these things through their children or by accident. At CLAVIS, we want to create learning environments where our students have access to the knowledge that is common knowledge in Danish society – in a safe and trusting way,” says course leader Jens Axel Vejen Larsen.
The presentation was part of our ongoing work to support integration through knowledge, and it was received with great interest and engagement. The participants asked curious questions and had the opportunity to reflect on both rights and duties in crisis situations – but also in everyday life.
We thank “Borgerberedskabet” for sharing their insights and making important knowledge present and accessible to everyone.
