AI Cookbook is a project that explores how artificial intelligence can be used in migrant education. To make AI more accessible and understandable, the project uses a cooking metaphor, where AI tools are seen as “recipes” consisting of “ingredients” that can be combined in different ways to improve teaching. The goal is to develop practical tools for educators, assess how AI methods can be applied across different sectors, and ensure that AI is used in an effective and ethical manner. By sharing knowledge and best practices, the project aims to bring about long-term improvements in education.
Teaching adult migrants poses particular challenges and requires flexible and innovative approaches. The European Commission’s Action Plan for Integration and Inclusion (2021-2027) emphasizes the importance of tailored teaching that meets the diverse needs of migrants. AI has the potential to support educators, but many are skeptical and fear that AI could replace human contact in the learning process. Using the cooking metaphor, educators are encouraged to view AI as a useful tool rather than a substitute for human teaching, making it easier to integrate AI into their work.
The project will develop an AI Cookbook, a practical guide for educators working with migrants. In addition, it will create a framework for the use of AI in migrant education, guidelines for transferring AI to other sectors, and a strong strategy for disseminating the results. The expected results include improved teaching methods, increased confidence in the use of AI, and greater dissemination of AI in the education sector. The project follows the European framework for digital competences of educators (DigCompEdu) to ensure compliance with EU standards.
AI Cookbook is a joint project between five partners from five EU countries:
