AI Cookbook is a project that explores how artificial intelligence can be used in migrant education. To make AI more accessible and easier to understand, the project uses a cooking metaphor, where AI tools are seen as “recipes”, consisting of “ingredients” that can be combined in different ways to improve teaching. The goal is to develop practical tools for educators, assess how AI methods can be applied across different sectors, and ensure that AI is used in a way that is both effective and ethical. By sharing knowledge and best practices, the project aims to create long-term improvements in education.
Teaching adult migrants comes with unique challenges, requiring flexible and innovative approaches. The European Commission’s Action Plan on Integration & Inclusion (2021-2027) highlights the importance of tailored education to meet the diverse needs of learners. AI has the potential to support educators, but many teachers remain skeptical, concerned that AI could replace the human connection in learning. By using the cooking metaphor, educators are encouraged to see AI as a helpful tool rather than a replacement for human teaching, making it easier to integrate AI into their work.
The project will produce an AI Cookbook, a practical guide for educators working with migrants. It will also develop a framework for using AI in migrant education, guidelines for adapting AI to other sectors, and a strong strategy for sharing results. The expected outcomes include better teaching practices, greater confidence in using AI, and an increased adoption of AI in education. The project follows the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigCompEdu) to ensure alignment with EU standards.
AI Cookbook is a joint effort between five partners from five EU countries:
