“I came to Denmark from Romania in 2011.
I learned the very basics of Danish at language school, but I still encountered language challenges on a daily basis. I was therefore very happy when I heard that I could learn more Danish on an FVU course at CLAVIS. In March 2014, I started FVU Step 1, and I quickly became much better at Danish grammar. Luckily, there were more FVU courses and I continued on to STEPS 2, 3 and 4. I am confident that I will finish my FVU education by graduating in Step 4.
Very shortly after I came to Denmark, I got a job at the Crown Plaza hotel. First I worked as a waiter in the hotel restaurant. Now I work as a team leader responsible for the hotel’s conferences.
I think my Danish has improved a lot and it has given me more confidence. Now I speak Danish with my colleagues, and I can also keep up with what’s happening in Denmark much better. So now I can also talk to my colleagues about current topics.
I have been very happy with the teaching at CLAVIS. The teachers are very good. It’s great that the courses are held in the evenings, so it’s possible to follow the courses after working hours. I’ve chosen a course with classes two evenings a week, and even though it can be hard, I’m happy to improve my Danish and feel that I’m making progress all the time.”
