CLAVIS Online - free Danish Education online

CLAVIS offers free online Danish language education for beginners who want to get the best results in the shortest possible time.

CLAVIS Online offers a flexible programme with a duration of approximately 24 months. For participants who prefer a more intensive option, Fast Track Online is available as an 11-month programme. Teaching is delivered by experienced and highly qualified online instructors.

The offer is aimed students at Danish Education 2 and 3 who can work independently and practice Danish between classes.

To participate you must be living in Denmark, be over the age of 18, having a CPR number and the right to The Certified Danish Education.

We will provide you with an education of high-quality and flexibility at one of the country’s oldest language schools.

You are entitled to free Danish language education during your first 5 years in Denmark – in this timeframe, you have 3.5 years to complete the Danish language programme. Read more under Who can participate?

This offer includes:

A total of 4-6 lessons of live lessons a week
24/7 Access to CLAVIS’ learning platform with online tasks and online material
The possibility to watch or re-watch the recordings of the live tuition on demand

The Danish Education covers a total of six modules. Modules 1-4 end with a module test and module 5 ends with a Test in Danish and module 6 with the Study Test. Please notice that you must show up for module test in one of our departments – Greve, Aarhus or Copenhagen.

Participation in online tuition requires:

That you do your homework to improve your Danish skills
That you can learn Danish via instructions in English (and/or Danish)
A computer and a good quality headset
A fast and stable internet connection
You must actively participate when you join online classes. We expect you to sit in a quiet environment – and without having guests joining class.

This offer will provide you with:

At module 1 & 2, we use CLAVIS ‘own self-developed beginner material. In addition to a basic vocabulary and the basic grammar it will provide you with an extremely good ballast for Danish pronunciation.
An intensive Danish course with fast progression through the practice of four main disciplines: Oral- and written proficiency, listening- and reading comprehension.
Access to a learning platform with a variety of relevant materials (nice to know) as well as a specific course room with selected materials (need to know) targeting your specific level.
Theme-based live tuition providing you with knowledge about Danish language, society, and culture through texts, video, news, and music.

Why learn Danish?

Mastering the Danish language makes it easier for you to cope in a job, in education, as a citizen in Denmark or socializing with your Danish colleagues, fellow students or neighbors.

What does the Danish education include?

The Danish Education is divided into three tracks DU1, DU2 and DU3. Each of them contains 6 modules. Each module ends with a test and the last module is completed with a certified Danish exam. The first modules focus on the spoken Danish, which in a short time enables you to understand and speak with your colleagues, fellow students or your doctor.

Who can participate?

The main requirements to participate in free Danish language education:

You must be at least 18 years old.
You must have a Danish CPR number.
You must have a residence permit or permanent, legal residence in Denmark.
You must start your Danish language education within your first 5 years in Denmark. Within this 5-year period, you are entitled to up to 3.5 years of free Danish language education.
If you are self-supporting or international student, you must pay a deposit of DKK 2,000 before the start of the course.

A good start

You will be invited to an interview to determine which Danish Education and module that matches your level of Danish and fits your calendar. At the interview, you will also receive all the information you need about schedule, module tests and exams etc.

When and where?

You can receive free Danish lessons in the morning, day, evening, on Saturday, online or in one of our department in Greve or at universities and at work places.

Deposit for self-supporters at Danish education

Deposit: The deposit of 2.000 DKK must be paid prior to course start. The full deposit will be reimbursed when you complete the modules with a test within a certain timeframe or when you take the final exam. Read more about rules for reimbursement of deposit.

Are you no longer eligible for the Danish education?

If you are no longer entitled to join the Danish Education. You can pay for the lessons. You have to pay for the entire course before course start. Please contact our departments for more information.

Would you like to become an active Danish Education student?

Before you start your Danish Education at CLAVIS, we invite you to an interview in order to evaluate which of the three Danish educations and which of the six modules suits you the best. When you start at CLAVIS you will receive all relevant information and guidance regarding your Danish education – along with time frames for your tuition, module tests, exams etc.
