Exam checklist – do’s and don’ts!

There are many things to remember when taking the Danish language exam. Here we give you an overview of the do’s and don’ts before and during your exam.

BEFORE the exam

  • Be on time before the exam starts – at least 30 minutes before – so you can find your seat, show your ID, turn off your phone and calm down. Therefore, leave home in good time and always expect traffic delays. It’s better to be there an hour early than 20 minutes late, because then you won’t be let in for your test. Summary: Expect delays and leave home early.
  • It’s important that you bring a valid photo ID so we can confirm your identity. For example, if you have changed your name and have not yet received your new ID card, make sure you have proof of the name change. Without valid ID, you will not be able to take the test.
  • Cell phones MUST be turned off. It is not enough that it is on silent. The invigilator will explain where to place the cell phones during the exam.
  • Smartwatches MUST be removed and placed together with the cell phone. If you want to be sure to wear a watch, bring a regular watch.
  • Dictionaries may be brought, but they may NOT be written in. The dictionaries will be reviewed and checked by an exam invigilator. During the first part of the test, dictionaries may not be used, so they must be placed under the table.
  • Jacket and bag must be put away – the exam invigilator will explain where to place them. Writing utensils and food or drinks may be left on the table.
  • Before the exam begins, joint information is given about the general rules, the exam itself, breaks, what information must be noted on the handout sheets, etc.

DURING the exam:

  • During the first and last 15 minutes of the exam, you are NOT allowed to leave the room – even if you have finished or need to use the restroom. This is because you need time to start and finish the assignment, and it will be disruptive if people walk in and out of the room.
  • If you need to go to the restroom, have questions or if you have finished the exam, raise your hand. Do NOT stand up without permission. If you leave the room without permission, this is considered an interruption of the exam, so remain seated until you have spoken to an exam invigilator who will give you permission to get up and leave the room.
  • Before you leave, your assignment must be signed by an exam invigilator and you must remain in your seat until this is done.
  • Do NOT talk to each other during the exam. If you communicate with another exam participant, this is considered cheating and you will not be able to complete your exam.
  • If notes are written in/on your hand, arm, pencil case or anywhere else, this is considered cheating.
